Glenmorangie is a pioneer in finishing techniques. It was the first distillery to offer whiskies finished in port and madeira casks; it was the first, and perhaps the only, to really master the effects of double maturation on whisky. Bill Lumsden, the head of distilling and whisky creation at the famous distillery, completely won us over with his single malt finished in Sauternes barrels. Finishing in Sauternes barrels gives the whisky liveliness and a thicker texture, without masking Glenmorangie’s malty, spicy and refined style. A classic, that La Maison du Whisky wholeheartedly recommends.
